For most people, railroads in Alaska and the Yukon are synonymous with the Alaska Railroad and the White Pass and Yukon Railroad whose passenger cars provide tourists with vistas of awe-inspiring terrain. That same terrain provided enormous challenges for early settlers of both territories. Railroads were an integral part of overcoming those challenges. Dozens of other railroads also laid track in Alaska, the Yukon, and northwest British Columbia and provided the means to transport supplies to settlements and to transport the region’s raw materials to outside markets. Klondike Alaska charts the history of many of those railroads. ©KUAC 2005 DVD's of this program are available for purchase at www.kuac.org.

What is BAREBOAT CHARTER? What does BAREBOAT CHARTER mean? BAREBOAT CHARTER meaning - BAREBOAT CHARTER definition - BAREBOAT CHARTER explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ A bareboat charter or demise charter is an arrangement for the chartering or hiring of a ship or boat, whereby no crew or provisions are included as part of the agreement; instead, the people who rent the vessel from the owner are responsible for taking care of such things. There are legal differences between a bareboat charter and other types of charter arrangements, commonly called time or voyage charters. In a voyage or time charter, the charterer charters the ship (or part of it) for a particular voyage or for a set period of time. In these charters the charterer can direct where the ship will go but the owner of the ship retains possession of the ship through its employment of the master and crew. In a bare-boat or demise charter, on the other hand, the owner gives possession of the ship to the charterer and the charterer hires its own master and crew. The bare-boat charterer is sometimes called a "disponent owner". The giving up of possession of the ship by the owner is the defining characteristic of a bareboat or demise charter. In a bareboat charter no administration or technical maintenance is included as part of the agreement. The charterer obtains possession and full control of the vessel along with the legal and financial responsibility for it. The charterer pays for all operating expenses, including fuel, crew, port expenses and P&I and hull insurance. In yachting a bareboat charter is usually for a short period. There are hundreds of bareboat yacht charter brokers or agent companies. These companies offer yacht finding and travel organisation services similar to travel agent only more specialized. Their purpose is to use their experience and networks to locate a client's ideal bareboat in terms of price and location. Much like online travel agencies that sell unsold inventory of airline tickets and hotel rooms at a fraction of the price, there are now also last minute bareboat charter brokers where travellers can find excellent rates. While bareboat technically refers to any boat that can be chartered without a skipper or crew, typically bareboating refers to sailing yachts, including catamarans. Bareboat hire has become increasingly common since the mid-1990s and in particular since the early 2000s. There has been increasing demand for yacht vacations and many experienced and semi-experienced ‘yachties’ now consider it easier and cheaper to hire a bareboat, rather than own their own yacht. While both the international leisure travel industry (particularly outdoor activities based vacations) and the boating industry have boomed in the last decade, so too has the bareboat charter industry which incorporates both of these pursuits. In the USA there is an additional legal distinction with regard to bareboat versus for hire, or "skippered" charters. When persons pool their finances to bareboat so that the qualified master among them may skipper for the group, even though the master is not ostensibly a paid skipper, he/she now takes on the legal responsibilities of one. This can have far-reaching consequences in the event of negative occurrences at sea.

These agreements are effectively the marine equivalent of a land based property lease agreement. In the yacht market, they typically are a short term arrangement extending days or weeks, although longer periods are certainly possible. Mega and super yachts are labels used synonymously by many people. But chartering services draw a distinction based on length. Mega yachts lie from 30 up to 60 metres in length (that is, 98 to 197 feet). Super yachts are 60 metres and longer. If they get longer than 180 metres, they tend to be called ships rather than yachts. Most mega yachts and larger are motor powered; sailing craft in this class are rare. Most big yachts are supplied with their own skipper and crew. Bare boat agreements are uncommon in the large yacht class. The crew usually includes all engine room and deck hands and commonly a hostess, waiters and possibly also security professionals. All skippers and crew are training credentials to the highest standards and usually have several years of sea time experience as well. One point to remember is that larger yachts are not capable in entering some bays and marinas. Their berthing or along-side options are therefore more limited. This can be an issue for people with specific destinations they wish to visit that have a restricted vessel maneuvering area. Many owners are members of a nationally-based super yacht association. This body serves to represent the interests of the industry to government and other parties. In many cases, the association also serves to establish its home country as a preferred destination for the global fleet of large, luxury pleasure craft. In these instances, those associations can be a useful source of information for clients intending a super yacht charter to that country. - created at http://animoto.com

Borderline Waters 60' Documentary - HD Synopsis A new and different way of discovering the world behind the delta of the River Danube: a river that for hundreds of years has marked important boundaries in Europe until January 2007 when it ceased to act as "borderline.." between neighbouring countries, becoming a free and entirely European river. Two stories, two different ways of seeing the Delta: On the one hand, an old fisherman lives between nostalgia and memories, between past and present in a world that is slowly dissapearing, just like the water flowing from the delta into the black sea. The old man represents the story, the experience, the tradition, a living testimony of the population of fishermen: the Lipovens (a population of slavonic origins) who escaped from Russia to find shelter in the marshy labyrinth of the Delta. On the other hand, a boy, whose curiosity and willingness to learn takes us on a journey of discovery, of exploration of all that is new, of the future and the new countries entering the European Union. Young witness to the fact the Delta represents the youngest European land, a land that started forming only five thousand years ago and like a young child still hasn't stopped growing and changing. Through their eyes we will explore the delta: the last water frontier dividing the Western Roman Empire from the Eastern "Barbarian world" and at a later stage becoming the ideal commercial waterway between Eastern and Western populations. The water "... reaches the delta, where the great river abandons its bed, branching out into smaller streams that wither away each in their own direction, like the organs of a human body giving in and progressively becoming unresponsive, until its streams vanish into the sea. It is a slow death, but by no means dramatic. Its death is in fact an incessant regeneration, a luxurious triumph of wildlife and vegetation, a laboratory of life and forms: rushes and herons, sturgeons, wild boars and cormorants, ash trees and beds of reeds as well as one hundred and ten different species of fish and three hundred different species of birds." "It is here, where the Lipoven fishermen live in rush and mud huts, that all the stories collected and carried by the Danube's waters converge and end" In that delta where everything mingles together, in a slow digestion that fails to reveal its route so stubbornly sought through the intricate labyrinth between the German and Slavonic worlds: along ex Iron curtains, suspended between Pannonic melancholy and Northern haze, dark bohemian forests and beds of reeds from the Black Sea. The Danube's delta is a world in which earth and water have undefined boundaries, where the forests are nature's "monuments". During the course of this journey we will learn more about what is destined to become the largest Natural Park in Eastern Europe. The delta's extraordinary fluvial mouth, unique in its kind not only for its flora, but also for its fauna, the endless stretches of reeds, swamps and marsh lands, bare or wooded sand strips, lakes, canals and islands. Without forgetting that the Danube's Delta is known worldwide as a bird paradise, with over 300 species that each year migrate to this location for nesting and reproduction purposes (including protected species such as the dwarf cormorant, the toucan, the pellican, the crane etc). It is a fisherman's paradise (each year the world fishing championships take place in this location). In the Delta's waters there are over 64 species of fish (including carps, pikes, herrings and sturgeons) The Delta's surface measures 434.000 hectars, 300.000 of which are covered by reeds. The vegetation includes virtually extinct plant species protected by international agreements (such as Angelica officinalis, Otratel and Pestisoara) and there are 3.400 animal species, of which 2.200 are insects. Through an intricate network of canals, swamps and lakes, the water represents the delta's main mean of motion and at the same time a resting location, a location for nautical activities, sightseeing tours and a location for fishing and hunting. We will visit the city of Tulcea, the starting point of every sightseeing tour. From there we will move on to other towns that can only be reached by water such as Sfantu Gherghe, the town of fishermen and Sulina where the most important fishing industries were located. We will then travel to the forest of Letea, Caraoman, the endless lakes of Fortuna and Matita, the fisherman's village of Mila23 and more.. A journey through water and sky, history and tradition, past and future... " ... where does the Danube terminate? There is no end to its unremitting flow, there is only one way to describe it "the infinite" Produced by: BC Today Subject/Theme: Alberto Micheli Directed by: Alberto Micheli Duration: 60 Minutes Format: DVCPRO HD

In the end, Terhaar voted in favor of Bare’s motion. In November, city voters approved the charter amendment that gave the power to the council to hire its own staff. The impetus for the amendment was the mayor unexpectedly firing the council’s executive director last summer after he had pledged to let the council decide on its own director. Source: http://ricksblog.biz/pensacola-city-council-backs-off-on-staff-and-panhandling/ ======== Coby, Barker, Wells...The Three Amigos Ride Again! Does anyone see the irony in that the entire charter debate that led to a new charter, that led to a strong mayor, that led to the debacle that his Mayorship has become is leading us right back to where we started? In 2009, people were frustrated that an unelected cabal (City Manager, Finance Director and City Attorney) ran a council and weak mayor form of government wherever they wanted. The people said No More! They passed the new charter and put in a Mayor that was supposed to be accountable to the people. Fast forward a few years and tonight hastens the return of the cabal while all actually drawing pensions and salaries. Barker is now all powerful in the executive branch as City Administrator, CFO, Chief Cook of the Books and Keeper of the Mayor's Secrets. He OWNS Hayward's posterior and probably reminds Hayward of that fact daily in his subtle sort of Gomer Pyle way. Rusty Wells completes a recovery from a porn surfing critic of how boring working with Council is to their loyal attorney ready to attend every meeting in order to guide their path and minimize public input. Al Coby returns to do exactly what he did before which is to walk the halls, counting votes, him alone knowing where Council members sit on issues, free to plot with Wells and Barker about passing issues as long as he doesn't actually tell Council about each other. The absurdity of the deja vu aspects of this makes me laugh out loud. Pensacola, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Everyone who worked on the Charter initiative, including me....We are Losers! Source: http://pensacolad3.blogspot.com/2015/03/coby-barker-wellsthe-three-amigos-ride.html

We shot this video in 1994, in the GenCon exhibit hall, visiting our friends Randy and Steve at the Lance & Laser booth. For those who were not at GenCon '94, there was a charity 'Klingon Jail', where you could pay costumed Star Trek fans to 'arrest' your buddies for a variety of silly offenses. Randy and Steve spent some time behind bars, that's what they are talking about in the video. Behind the camera was Brian Roe, also present were Chris FitzPatrick and Allen Thomas. The owner of Lance & Laser, Eric Morrice, can briefly be seen on the right. We are currently uploading some more videos , stay tuned for more blasts from the past.

Turn on captions for English subtitles. Alan Wilson is a British historian specialising in the origins and ancient history of the British and the history of the ancient British kings including two real King Arthurs. Arthurian research: In 1976, after a chance meeting with historical researcher, Anthony Thomas 'Baram' Blackett, at the public library in Newcastle upon Tyne, the two men decided to put up many thousands of pounds of their own money to fund full-time research into the origins of King Arthur. The Arthurian stories, so popular today, came out of South-Eastern Wales into France, via the Normans, in the 12th century and this encouraged them to start their search in the same place. The search soon moved beyond Wales to include the English Midlands which had been dominated by the old Welsh Kingdoms for centuries. To date, Wilson and Blackett have published seven books that provide information based upon Old Welsh records that date to the 12th Century. They believe that these provide a final solution to the King Arthur story and have clearly identified the true sites of the battles of Badon (Mynydd Baedan) and Camlann. In 1983, Wilson and Blackett discovered what they believe to be King Arthur's memorial stone at the small ruined church of St Peter-super-Montem on Mynydd-y-Gaer in Mid-Glamorgan, which they subsequently purchased. The stone was offered to the National Museum of Wales (Amguedda Werin Cymru) for analysis, but the offer was not taken up. Subsequently it went on public display in various venues for some time. Following this, they employed the services of two archaeologists, (Professor Eric Talbot and Alan Wishart) in 1990, to lead a dig at the same place. During the excavations, which were authorised by the Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Wales, several artefacts were discovered including an ancient axe, a knife and a small cross weighing two and a half pounds, that reads "Pro Anima Artorius" ("For The Soul Of Arthur"). The cross was subsequently tested by an independent metallurgical house, Bodycote PLC, and found to be made of electrum, and so certified. The cross was offered up to the National Museum of Wales for public testing, but this also was declined.Wilson and Blackett had already identified the church as an ancient historical site possibly originally dating from the first century A.D. Other major Welsh kings are buried locally. More recently, Wilson and Blackett began a search for what was known as 'The Greatest Work of the Cymru' - Cyfrangon. This is allegedly a massive, hollow, man-made hill concealed somewhere in Wales (similar to Silbury Hill). Treasure hunters in Wales have long sought this fabled hill in which, it is believed, lie several objects of tremendous historical and archaeological value, many of which may be covered in gold or copper. The use of deep ground probing metal detection and analysis equipment revealed non ferrous metal artefacts some fifteen feet below the surface of the hill at Twyn y Glog, near Ynysybwl in mid Glamorgan. Further investigation by collaborators proved that the original height of the hill lies some 30 or more metres below the Ordnance Survey height, and that the hill is therefore an artificial construct. (Berkly, G., 2007). No further tests have been made to date (10 September 2007). Lecture tours: Alan Wilson and his colleague lectured extensively in the United Kingdom, including Manchester and Jesus College at the University of Oxford, and Alan Wilson gave the prestigious Bemis Lecture in Boston in 1993. Research into claims that the Welsh settled in mid-western America in antiquity led to Wilson and his colleague, Baram Blackett, accepting invitations from American supporters to visit US sites of historical significance in 1994. The visit led to several television appearances and the deciphering of alphabetic inscriptions claimed to be in the old 'Coelbren' alphabet. Wilson also concluded that the many snake mounds in the American Mid-west were of ancient Khumric-British construction. Whilst in America, the two men were also commissioned to produce a detailed genealogy for the Bush family (friends and supporters of President George H. W. Bush). Published works: Arthur, King of Glamorgan and Gwent (with Baram Blackett, MT Byrd Partnership, 1980) Arthur and Charter of the Kings (with Baram Blackett, MT Byrd Partnership, 1981) Arthur The War King (with Baram Blackett, MT Byrd Partnership, 1982-3) Artorius Rex Discovered (with Baram Blackett, MT Byrd Partnership, 1986) The Holy Kingdom (with Adrian Gilbert and Baram Blackett, Bantam, 1998) King Arthur Conspiracy (with Grant Berkley and Baram Blackett, Trafford, 2005) Moses in the Hieroglyphs (with Grant Berkley and Baram Blackett, Trafford, 2006) The Discovery of the Ark of the Covenant (with Grant Berkley and Baram Blackett, Trafford, 2007)

There are 6 steps that I have found to be essential to pursuing inventory reduction. Actually, there are many more things that can be done – for instance, focusing on supplier agreements and the management of supplier performance – but for this bare bones presentation I will just focus on those steps necessary to get tangible reductions in inventory, which is a great start on the road to inventory optimization.

In the discussion leading up to the Pensacola City Council's vote to create an independent Council Office through a City Charter Amendment to be placed on the November ballot, Councilwoman Sherri Myers gave an impassioned speech indicating how the council has suffered under the tyranny of Mayor Ashton Hayward. "Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny." --- Thomas Jefferson
